Current Work/Experience

Over the past 20 years I have managed a variety of educational initiatives in UK Higher Education, public and voluntary sectors. Since 1990 the focus of this work has been on distance education and use of new media for teaching and learning, initially at Warwick Business School and since 2000 at The Open University. I have an MBA from Warwick Business School and MA in Online and Distance Education from the UK Open University. I have also studied many distance-taught and online courses - proving that I have every confidence in distance education in general and courses to which I have contributed in particular!

In 2000 my career focus changed and I became increasingly engaged in academic work - although retaining a focus on operational issues associated with distance education and elearning. I have tutored/moderated online courses including T171 - You, Your Computer and the Net (2000) and, since April 2002, been very happily employed as a full-time lecturer in the Institute of Educational Technology.

My main work is based around use and reuse of online resources, although I also play a leading role in many other IET activities (notably educational and professional development). I am co-author of Learning in the Connected Economy which is offered by the OU as H806, a 60pt course within the MA in Online and Distance Education and has been developed in partnership with the University of Cambridge, Programme for Industry (CPI). I have also been Course Chair for H850 IET's Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and I am a member of the team developings its replacement for 2006 (H808).
